Mary Panke, Strategic Knowledge Director
Mary
Panke is Director of Knowledge Resourcing at Population Action International
where she has worked since 2002. Mary manages the PAI Library and leads a
Knowledge Management initiative focused on developing an integrated,
learning-centered work environment that aligns with and supports PAI's
collaborative work style. Mary is a
graduate of Carleton College and holds a masters degree in library sciences from
Columbia University. Prior to
joining PAI, Mary worked for the United Nations Environmental Program's U.S.
National Focal Point at the US Environmental Protection Agency where she served
as editor of a Caribbean environmental newsletter and handled international
inquiries on environmental regulations, research, legislation and health issues
in the U.S. and abroad. She also
worked for several years in the Public Information and Communications Department
at the Electric Power Research Institute's Washington DC office where she
established library and information services, and helped pioneer a pre-internet
national online request network.
